J/kg (joule per kilogram) = specific energy
J/m3 (joule per metre cubed) = energy density, sound density, sound energy density
J/s (joule per second) = power = watt (W)

kg·m² (kilogram metre-squared) = moment of inertia
kg/m3 (kilogram per metre-cubed) = density
kg/s (kilogram per second) = mass flow rate

(metre-squared) = area
m3 (metre-cubed) = volume
m3/kg (metre-cubed per kilogram) = specific volume.
m3/s (metre-cubed per second) = volumetric flow
m/s (metre per second) = speedvelocity
m/s²) (meter per second-squared = acceleration
m/s3 (metre per second-cubed) = jerk

N (newton) = force : SI unit kg·m/s-2
N·m (newton metre) = torque (moment of force) = kg·m²/s², also called moment?. Less common use, energy = J (joule)
N·m·s (newton metre second) = angular momentum
N·s (newton second) = momentum, impulse
N/m² (newton per metre-squared) = Pascal.

Pa (pascal) = N/m² pressuresound pressure
Pa·m3 (pascal metre-cubed) = energy and work, equivalent to the Joule (J)
Pa·s/m (pascal second per metre) = specific acoustic impedance

rad/s (radian per second) = angular velocity
rad/s² (radian per second-squared) = angular acceleration


W (watt) = power, sound power
W/m² (watt per metre-squared) = sound energy flux densitysound intensitysound power density = J·s/m²

W·s (watt second) = sound energy
W·s/m3 (watt second per metre-cubed) = sound energy density = J·s/m²


energy flux (1) = W·m² • sound energy flux a specific case

energy flux (2) = W = J/s • total rate of energy transfer

energy flux density = J/(m²·s) (joule per metre-squared second) or W/m² (watts per metre-squared)

flux density = flux per unit area

kinetic energy = joule (J)

Sound intensity is the average sound energy flowing through a specified point, the SI units are W/m²


sound absorption = sabin

sound energy = J (joule)

sound energy flux = SI units W = J/s : energy flux is defined in 2 different ways. This is the total rate of energy transfer, see also sound energy flux density
